**The 1977 Carolina Leahue Champions:A Look Back by John Graham Executive General Manager April 1987-10 years. 1987 marks
the 10 year anniversary of my first job with the Peninsuka Baseball team and my 20th year of watching baseball at Peninsula
War Memorial Stadium.It has been ten years since the Peninsula Pilots won the 1977 Carolina League Championship. It does not
seem possible that all these years have passed because it only seems like yesterday we were all celebrating that banner season.
* The 1977 season was by no means the best year in terms of overall record. in fact the final record (71-67) only ranks 11
out of 21 Carolina League seasons.The Pilots started the season losing the first 5 games. Peninsula had a very modest first
half finishing 3rd with a record of 31-35.Even though the 1st half was disappointing, those close to the team could feel that
